- Hand value of Hard 11 - It is always best to double down when your hand value is 11, since there is a 30.7% chance to hit another 10-value card, which can improve your hand to an unbeatable 21 hand, unless the dealer has a blackjack and in that case it would only result in a push where you would not lose your money.
- Hand value of Soft 11- Not all casinos allow you to double on a soft 11, however if the one your playing at does, then the above strategy is advised.
- Hand value of 10 - As with a hand of 11, double provides a high chance of improving to a 20 value hand, which is a good hand in blackjack.If the dealer's hand up card is a 10, face card, or ace, then with a 20 hand you have a good chance for a push.
- Hand of Hard 9 - Same as with a hand of 11 doubling has high chances for improving your hand to 19, the only deter is when the dealer's up card is any of the following: 8, 9, 10, face, or Ace. Those improves the dealer's odds to get a better hand, but still the correct blackjack double down startegy here is to double.
- Hand Value of 8 - The correct blackjack double down startegy here is NOT to double. Many are tempted to do so with a hand value of 8 hoping it will improve the hand to 18 but that is not always the case. With a hand value of 11 you can double, get a 7 card and still have a powerful hand of 18, with a hand value of 8 this is not the case.
- Hand value of higher than 11- If you double with a hand value higher than 11 you have a 30.7% chance to bust, with a 12 hand value your chance is now 56% chance to bust and this figure keeps rising. Do NOT double with hand value of 11 or higher.
- Hand Value lower than 8 - It is not advised to double with this value, it will not improve your hand unless the dealer busts.
